Ossip ZADKINE (1890-1967) Statuette of a young woman, sculpted stone, rough cut 51 x 23 x 14cm. Provenance : Jeanne TACHARD owner of the milliner's salon, Suzanne TALBOT. Around 1920 she had a futuristic villa built in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, entirely Art Deco, designed by Pierre LEGRAIN, where her collections, including FOUJITA, KISLING, MAX ERNST, LURCAT, LAURENS, etc., took place. We can see this statue in the villa's large living room, enthroned on a balustrade, surrounded by objects of African art. The "primitivism" of this first period of the artist is in total harmony with the aesthetic choices of the designer and the milliner.
