Bronze clock with double brown and golden patina representing "JASON HAVING VICTED THE DRAGON", dial signed and engraved in the shield "Le Roy Hr du Roi". Rests on a counter base in antique green marble finished by claw feet. Empire period Height : 63 cm - Length : 39 cm - Depth : 19 cm Provenance : Clock remained in the same family since the origin. - Castle of Serrant. - Château du Plessis Massé. - Castle of La Maroutière. An identical model in quality and with a similar double patina is kept at the Château de la Malmaison (ref : MM.40.47.470). This model is attributed to Louis-Isidore Choiselat (1784-1853) also known as Choiselat-Gallien, a Parisian goldsmith, bronze smith, founder, chiseller and gilder. During the Restoration period, Choiselat-Gallien worked for many churches such as the choir of the church of Saint Sulpice with the altarpiece and the two large candelabras. The subject of this clock is directly inspired by the expedition of the Argonauts: the conquest of the Golden Fleece by Jason in order to accede to the throne of Iolcos, a city of Thessaly of which his father was once the sovereign.
