MONET Claude [Paris, 1840 - Giverny, 1926], French painter.
Autograph letter signed, addressed to M. Petit. Giverny by Vernon, May 18, 1890; 1 1/2 page in-8°.
"I have come to ask you to let me know by return of mail what has been agreed upon for my painting from the Porto Riche sale. If it was bought for me or for another. I would like to know immediately in order to give you instructions for the Heilbuth sale. A word or a dispatch at once, you would be very kind."
This letter must refer to his painting The Fisherman's House at Varengeville, sold on May 14, 1890. During the summer of 1890, Claude Monet painted his beautiful series of millstones.
