L.A.S. "Gioachino Rossini", Passy de Paris October 9, 1862, to an "Excellence"; 1 page small in-4 (black ink stain above the signature).
Amusing letter soliciting an audience.
"It is me, me The Monkey of Pesaro, who this time works for his own account, and comes to solicit the favor (promised) of an audience, where he will have the honor to present to you in person, his respect and his thanks and who encouraged by your inexhaustible kindness will dare to renew a prayer which will give back to the axiom all its prestige "if it is possible? I will do it, if it is impossible? it is done". May your Excellency therefore forgive the author of The Barber of Seville his audacious temerity in granting him this interview.
