L.A.S. "Claude Debussy", 80, avenue du Bois de Boulogne [Paris] October 11, 1909, to a friend [probably Paul DUKAS]; ¾ page in-12 on blue paper addressed to him (slight discoloration of the paper).
"Just this morning your friend Staub came to see me, he is very nice, and I have intentions for him that your letter has only strengthened. So I will vote for him, like bronze!"... [This is the pianist Victor STAUB, who was a candidate for the succession of Risler's piano class at the Conservatoire in November 1909. Debussy had been appointed to the Conseil Supérieur d'Enseignement in February 1909 and was therefore entitled to vote. Staub obtained the position on October 21, 1909.
This letter could be addressed to Paul Dukas. Staub had transcribed for piano L'Apprenti sorcier].
