One volume in-12 oblong full red morocco, smooth spine, gilt lace framing the boards with vine leaves and grapes, title in gilt letters in the center of the first board pushed on a large piece of green morocco, guilloche edges, gilt edges, cardboard case.Precious original collection of 71 silhouettes cut and pasted on 35 pages of the album, with a handwritten caption under most of the silhouettes a quotation from a famous writer. Some pages have been removed or left blank. Unique piece attributable to Charles HEIM, creator of "silhouettes according to a process known only to him", as stated on his business card, attached to the book. Charles Heim was a disciple of the famous Etienne de Silhouette, unfortunate inventor of this process of contour portrait cut in cheap paper, to make the portrait of his contemporaries and of which he will end up covering the walls of his castle of Bry-sur-Marne...
