[BLASPHEM] A marvellous and frightful story that happened near the city of Genoa, in Italy, in the person of Antoine Panetier, a hawker, who was buried in the ground for having blasphemed the Holy Name of God. Name of God, with several holy instructions to all persons who wish to serve God. Translated from Italian into French by André Deuan, lawyer. Rouen, Loys Duménil, undated (circa 1630). Booklet in-12 marbled calf of the end of the XVIIIth century, smooth spine decorated, gilt roulette on the boards (small defects of use, a weak hinge). 15 pages, text ruled in red. Very rare piece intended to warn the people against the use of blasphemy and to impress them, relating the miserable end of Antoine Panetier, devoured by wolves by divine punishment despite the intervention of many villagers. From the Joseph Renard Library (Ex-libris)
