ANDRY DE BOISREGARD (Nicolas). Cléon to Eudoxe concerning the Memorandum of the surgeons against the pre-eminence of medicine over surgery. [In Paris, at Gissey's], 1739. In-12, contemporary tan calf, spine ribbed, red tr. (binding very worn). An exceptional copy: it is the one on which the author himself made corrections. This is the second edition of the work, and the work done here by Andry aimed at perfecting the work for a new edition which never saw the light of day. He explains himself on a leaf added opposite the title: "If one were to reprint this book of Cleon & Eudoxe, it is necessary to settle on this copy which I have retouched and corrected by my hand, and where I have added various things". The end of the sheet is missing, it probably bore a signature, and a different hand has written below: "Corrections made by Andry dean of the faculty of Med. 1742".
