[Binding with the arms]. AMAND (Pierre). Nouvelles observations sur la pratique des accouchemens, avec la manière de se servir d'une nouvelle machine pour tirer promptement & surement la tête de l'enfant. In-8, [8] f., 430 p., portr., pl., old red morocco, spine ribbed, brown morocco title-piece, small ornamented boxes, triple fillet and angular fleurons on the boards, and arms in the centre, all gilt, gilt roulette on the edges and chasses, edges gilt on marbling, skilful restorations (one corner cracked, paper browned but not serious). Second edition, "corrected & increased with the figure of the Tire-tête". It is illustrated with a portrait of the author and two folding plates, all engraved on copper by de Rochefort. Beautiful decorative binding with arms probably stamped later and inspired by those of Chancellor d'Aguesseau.
