Counterfeit, at the date of the original edition, of this sequel given to Gulliver's Travels. It is the work of the Abbé Desfontaines, a native of Rouen (1685-1745), who first translated Swift's famous work into French. A polemicist and critic, opposed to Voltaire, he was notably the director of the Journal des savants. Handwritten bookplate "Arnault, 1760" on the last page of the preface.
