Paris : Editions du carrefour, [1929-1931]. - 8 issues in-8, paperback.
Complete collection of the 8 issues published between May 1929 and June 1931 of this avant-garde literary journal created by Pierre G. Lévy and directed by Georges Ribemont-Dessaigne.
This ephemeral magazine allowed many writers to express themselves, including Ivan Goll, Blaise Cendrars, Henry Michaux, Philippe Soupault, Tristan Tzara, Jean Lurçat, Giorgio de Chirico, Francis Picabia, Michel Leiris, Robert Desnos, James Joyce, Ernest Hemingway, André Malraux, Jean Giraudoux, Jean-Paul Sartre, etc.
The issues are illustrated with out-of-text reproductions of paintings, sculptures and photographs by André Masson, Germaine Krull, Man Ray, Sima, Arp, etc. The number 2 is unfortunately incomplete of its plates.
Numbers 1, 2, 4, 5 are part of the 200 numbered head copies on Papeteries de Canson-Montgolfier pure rag vellum (n° XXXV, LXXX, CLIX and CLXXXIV), and the others are numbered on Alfa de Lafuma-Navarre, from an edition ranging from 1700 to 3000 copies (n° 1701 (3), 1131 (6), 643 (7) and 806 (8))
Covers soiled, some stained, the spine of the cover of number 4 is detached; some tears without missing. Some rare foxing, present especially in the copies on Alfa.
