DESBORDES-VALMORE (Marceline )Poetry. Third edition, revised, corrected and expanded. Paris : Théophile Grandin, 1822. - In-18, paperback. Third edition, partly original, containing 16 new poems. It is illustrated with a title-frontispiece and 4 plates engraved by Coupé, Lefebvre and Godefroy after compositions by Chasselat. Precious copy enriched with this autograph sending of the poetess on the false title: " offered to Mr. Coignet // in recognition of his // charming verses. // Marceline Desb. Valmore // bordeaux. 20 june // 1823" This is undoubtedly the poet from Lyon, Étienne-François Coignet (1798-1866), librarian of the city of Saint-Chamond, who was a friend of Paul-Émile Prudhon, Marceline's godfather . Paperback copy, complete with the letter from the bookseller Grandin dated March 1, 1822, printed on 7 pages at the end. Cover soiled, small tears on the edges. Some minor foxing, light halos on pages 121 to 124 and 231 to 234.
