First edition of this novel first published in serial form in "La Législature" from July 26 to September 6, 1842, under the title "Le Danger des mystifications". The second volume is completed by "La Fausse maîtresse", dedicated to the Countess Clara Masseï, first published in 1842.a fine copy, washed, in a pastiche binding of the beginning of the 20th century.
