The commune of Montfort is represented in three dimensions with the names of the bordering communes written in red around. The houses, roads and streams are marked in red and black on a scale of 1/10000. Monfort in the Gers, 32 kilometres from Auch, a commune with 1247 inhabitants in 1864, but only 996 in 1896, is the birthplace of the protestant poet and follower of Henri de Navarre Guillaume de Saluste, sieur du Bartas (1544-90). Nothing is known of Marie Sarrant.
