Alexandre BERLANT (1921-1994 )Two pencil drawings: - Couple of dancersSigned lower right and dedicated lower center. - DancerSigned and dedicated lower right. 29 x 20 cm (2) Alexandre Berlant, a French artist born in Kiev, made many illustrations for books and in particular for Eugene de Rijac's Classical Dance without Bars . He is sometimes described as a painter of dance and nature. Alexandre Berlant is also known for his actions during the Second World War, during which he directed a workshop for the manufacture of false papers which saved many people. These two drawings are dedicated to Paul Schaffer. This one, survivor of the death march, was vice-president of Yad Vachem France and president of the Union of Auschwitz deportees.
