It was after the poor sales of the 308 that Ferrari decided to launch the Mondial range to reach a wider audience; all these cars are designed by Pininfarina and have a V8 engine in a central rear position. When the first model was introduced in 1980, the engine was a 3.0 V8 with 16 valves and 214 horsepower. In 1989, the Mondial T was added to the range, it retained the aesthetic aspects of the Mondial but it was the mechanical aspects that underwent the biggest changes; it took the engine from the 348 but placed it in a longitudinal position with a transverse gearbox forming a T (hence the name of the model). The V8 engine was increased to 3.4 litres and 300 horsepower, allowing the Mondial T to reach 260 km/h in both coupé and cabriolet versions. This Ferrari Mondial T Cabriolet comes from the USA, it has been in the same family since 1994 and has only 46,000km on the clock. A new belt was ordered in 2017 and various invoices from 2014 and 2016 attest to maintenance.This model is attractive as it offers real sporty performance at a reasonable price, the Alpaca top and rear window are in good condition.
