Instructions to the singer who will perform the role of Don Pizarro at the premiere of Fidelio.
Fidelio was premiered on March 29, 1806¸ at the Theater an der Wien, where
Friedrich Sebastian MAYER (1773-1835) was the stage manager, and where he sang the bass roles.
"Hier der Ite [erste] Akt - diesen Abend den zweiten - wo eigentlich nur wenige Veränderungen gemacht worden. - sobald beyde Akte geschrieben, bitte ich sogleich, mir sie wieder zu zustellen Beethowen".
Note accompanying the dispatch of Act I, and announcing for the same evening the second act, where in fact there are few changes. As soon as the two acts are copied, he asks that they be sent back to him promptly...
