ORNE. 1523. Châtellenie of BELLÊME. Large parchment (46 x 62 cm). Before the Keeper of the Seals of the Châtellenie of Bellesme, Inheritance of a house in Bellesme, made on 18 April 1523 for Jehan Busson and Catherine Heurtault his wife. The Seigniory of Bellême is the domain owned by the de Bellême family from the 10th century to 1113. Located on the borders of the Duchy of Normandy and the County of Maine, it spread at its peak from the Passais in the west to the Saosnois in the east, passing through the Alençon countryside and part of the Perche. Besides its capital Bellême, its main cities were Sées, Alençon and Domfront.
