Our painting is a bust of the equestrian portrait of the Duke of Sully kept in the castle of Sully sur Loire (canvas 91 x
79 cm).
The model, also known as Maximilien V, Prince of Henrichemont and Boisbelle, then Duke of Sully in 1694 and peer of France.
His brother, Maximilien-Henri de Béthune (1669-1729), Marquis de Conty, Duke of Béthune, commissioned his portrait from
his portrait to Hyacinthe Rigaud in 1713, probably to commemorate his recent title of 5th Duke of Sully acquired
