French school of the XVIIIth century after RIGAUD
Portrait of Catherine-Marie Pécoil née Legendre as Flora, accompanied by a black servant
Black pencil
38 x 28 cm
Watermark of a man holding a stick
Old fold crossing the drawing from bottom right to top left
This drawing was probably executed after the engraving of the portrait painted by Rigaud in reverse (see A. James-Sarazin, "Catalogue Raisonné Hyacinthe Rigaud", Dijon, 2016, ed. Faton, no. P753, pp. 250-251, painting and engraving reproduced). The execution remains very free and shows a beautiful sure hand.
