Il exécute de nombreux petits panneaux décrivant les rivages du Nil et les villages qu'il traverse. Les six oeuvres, permettent de suivre chronologiquement la pérégrination du peintre. Dès avant sa période marocaine, l'artiste montre sa maitrise à saisir l'impressionnisme de la lumière égyptienne ainsi que la poésie du grand fl euve. During winter, 1913, Majorelle sails along the Nile to Luxor and Karnak. He paints small panels describing the banks and the villages of the Nile. Our object, which gathers (collects) six works, allows to follow chronologically the peregrination of the painter. Majorelle, before his Moroccan period shows its mastery to seize the impressionism of the Egyptian light and the poetry of the big river.
