In-8, stiff parchment, title in ink on spine, red edges (18th century binding). First edition. One of the first books printed in Fano, where printing was introduced in 1502 by Girolamo Soncino: this typographer, active in the city from 1502 to 1516, was the most famous of this important family of Jewish printers. (Manzoni, Annali tipografici dei Soncino, Fano, n°13: "rarissima stampa".) Collection of texts on Italian history, taken from the works of Cato, Sextus Aurelius and Benvenuto da Imola (Rambaldis), commentator of Dante and friend of Petrarch, published by Lorenzo Astemio, scholar and grammarian who was the librarian of the Duke of Urbino. Freckles, soiling to one page. Inside margin of 2 leaves consolidated. Binding stained.
