Boubouroche. Comedy in 2 acts. No place or date [late 1892-early 1893]. Autograph manuscript signed "G. Courteline" small in-4 of (2) ff. 85 ff. numbered 1-84 and 34bis: jansenist red morocco, ribbed spine, gilt fillets on the edges, interior framing of red morocco and gilt and cold fillets, linings and endpapers of brocaded silk in three tones, gilt edges (Noulhac). Complete autograph manuscript of one of Georges Courteline's classic plays, which belonged to Sacha Guitry. Boubouroche, a good man abused by his friends and his mistress, first appeared as a short story in L'Écho de Paris in July 1892: adapted by Courteline, the play was premiered on April 27, 1893 at the Théâtre Libre and published the same year. It was included in the repertoire of the Comédie-Française in 1910 and has been adapted several times for both film and television. Beautiful manuscript written on the front of ruled sheets of a schoolboy's notebook: it offers numerous erased and corrected passages. From the libraries of Paul Voûte, with ex-libris (1938, no. 589) and Sacha Guitry (1974, no. 24).
