A selection of twenty recent issues of the Bulletin de la Société J.-K. Huysmans Society Format: 15 cm x 20 cm. Published annually. The number of pages varies, generally from eighty to one hundred and twenty. Joris-Karl Huysmans (1848-1907) is a major figure in the literature of the second half of the 19th century. His work followed original directions. Born in the heart of naturalism and in the wake of Zola, it was then, in 1884, with À rebours, the breviary of the decadent spirit before venturing into occultism and finally taking the path of conversion. In the 20th and 21st centuries, it had and continues to have a contrasting influence on writers as different as Paul Claudel, André Breton, Julien Gracq and Michel Houellebecq. Preceded as early as 1919 by a short-lived Huysmans-Club run by a few young enthusiasts, the J.-K. Huysmans Society was founded in 1927 in the context of the twentieth anniversary of the writer's death. Its purpose is to promote Huysmans' work and to contribute to its influence. It publishes an annual Bulletin, which includes unpublished works, rediscovered texts and critical studies, and reports on current events in Huysmans' life, particularly publishing, and on the life of the Society. The Bulletin de la Société J.-K. Huysmans Society is reserved for members of the Society who have paid their annual subscription (35 euros). Out-of-print issues can be purchased on request. The Société J.-K. Huysmans Society is pleased to offer twenty of the most recent issues of its Bulletin to Samusocial International as part of its annual auction. STARTING PRICE €100
