PIERRE AUGUSTE RENOIR (1841-1919) & RICHARD GUINO (1890-1973)
Maternity
Foundry plaster, numbered /20, and signed Renoir
Height : 55,3 cm
This group was modelled by Richard Guino at the request of Pierre-Auguste Renoir to pay tribute to Madame Renoir. A bust was also made to be placed on her tomb in Essoyes. This group was inspired by a painting by the Master in 1885 representing his wife breastfeeding their son Pierre.
There are several editions of this model created in 1916. Another similar plaster is in the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Our plaster could come from the Valsuani foundry and have been used for the Barbazange Hodebert Paris and/or Flechteim Berlin editions.
We remind you that the reproduction of this plaster is forbidden, its possible edition being reserved to the artists' rights holders.
We would like to thank the Succession Guino for the information provided.
