Joseph Christophe, pupil of Bon BOULLOGNE, obtained the Prix de Rome in 1687. He was admitted to the Academy in
1702. In 1696 he painted for the corporation of goldsmiths a May for Notre-Dame representing the miracle of
five loaves of bread. He exhibited at the Salons from 1704 to 1739.
