"THE EMPEROR NAPOLEON I. IN BUST WEARING THE INSIGNIA OF THE LEGION OF HONOR AND THE IRON CROWN. Oval miniature presented in the center of a triptych, with two panels. On the left side an engraved text in English "Miniature of Napoleon I by Snave given by Napoleon to Dr Barry E O'Meara when quitieting St Helena, formerly in the collection of the late John Copting Esq the autograph is engraved as a frontispiece to Dr O'Meara's work Napoleon in Exile." On the right hand side, "If he sees my maid Louise I pray her to allow him to kiss her hand. Napoleon. July 25, 1818. On a purple velvet background, covered with morocco paper. Brass clasp. Open : 23 x 13 cm. Miniature : 8,5 x 6 cm. B.E. Barry Edward O'Meara Irish doctor (in Ireland 1786-London 1836). Surgeon major aboard the Belerephon in 1815, he accompanied Napoleon to St. Helena and published and published various documents on this period. Much appreciated by the deposed Emperor, he was considered suspicious by Hudson Lowe and sent away from the Island. He published a testimony " Napoleon in Exile " and the triptych is inscribed in facsimile at the beginning of the book.
