Biography:
Thérèse, Thérésia or Térésa Cabarrus, a banker's daughter, married three times, first at a very young age to Monsieur Devin de Fontenay, then to the Conventional Tallien. Famous for her beauty, Madame Tallien, nicknamed Notre-Dame de Thermidor, finally divorced in 1802. After many affairs, she became Countess of Caraman, Princess of Chimay. Her miniatures seem to date from after her last marriage in 1805. One of them, depicting the Empress Josephine, was shown at the South Kensington exhibition in London in 1865.
