VIRGIN WITH CHILD Moselle, 14th-15th century Limestone Misses and accidents H. 110 cm This crowned Virgin, sculpted in the round, carries the Child away from her breast. She presents the Saviour offered as a sacrifice for the salvation of the world. The draperies are treated with great care. The long tunic of the Child is folded in a beautiful undulating movement that joins the lines of the mother's coat, whose dress is very finely pleated under her breast.
