A richly adorned high dignitary. With his arms raised, this figure seems to be caught in the middle of a ritual action. He is dressed in a loincloth with a belt fitted with a large medallion decorated with symbolic engravings. On either side of his thighs are panels representing the heads of deities in profil whose engraved features are highlighted in red. He is adorned with ankle bracelets, a necklace, and earrings. A tubular headdress with a pompom encircles his forehead and two flaps fall to the shoulders. Beige terracotta with traces of red pigments. Culture of the State of Veracruz, Mexico 450-750 AD Height: 60 - Width: 29 cm. Condition: broken and glued in several parts. Provenance : Ex Canadian private collection, Toronto. A QED Laboratory thermoluminescence test will be given to the buyer.
