The Gentleman Harp Player, Europe, ca. 1770-1780
Folded fan, the cream silk sheet painted with a lady of quality in front of her dressing table listening to a gentleman playing the harp. The faces are made of paper cut-outs. Four butterflies with wings made of pheasant feathers decorate the sides of the composition, with two gigantic birds with coloured plumage.
Mute reverse.
Mounting in ivory* cut out, engraved and painted in colours of loves and country symbols.
