ITALIAN SCHOOL OF THE LAST CENTURY, ENTOURAGE OF GIOVANNI BONAZZA (1654-1736) Draped bearded man White marble bust H. total: 78 cm (including pedestal H.: 12 cm) Plaster reinforcement on the reverse Wear and soiling Originally from Venice, Giovanni Bonazza trained with François Duquesnoy, Giusto Le Court and Filippo Parodi. The majority of his career was divided between his native city and Padua where he set up his workshop and joined the Padua stone guild, the "Fraglia dei Tagliapietra". Our bust of a bearded man shows the characteristics of Bonazza's work, combining Venetian naturalism with the force of Roman baroque, sometimes to the point of outrageousness or caricature.
