COMMODE in marquetry of flowers, the curved front opening to two drawers, the top of white marble resting on rounded uprights ended by cambered feet, decorated with branches of stained wood flowers on a background of sycamore maple in rosewood surrounds and amaranth framing, ornamentation of gilded bronzes with lion's head falls, apron and claw hoof, top of white marble (brought back at a later date). Attributed to Nicolas Petit, received master cabinetmaker in 1761 Louis XVI period. H : 86,5 cm, W : 80,5 cm, D : 46,5 cm Several similar chests of drawers with variations in the decoration are stamped or attributed to Nicolas Petit, three of them are illustrated in A. Droguet, Nicolas Petit, Paris, 2001, p. 54-55.
