Rosewood veneered desk-table opening with two drawers. Fluted tapered legs. The top is covered with gilded leather and brass corner pieces. Ornamentation of gilded bronzes. Louis XVI style. Stamped Escalier de Cristal, Paris. Height : 74 cm - Width : 98 cm - Depth : 50 cm From the furniture stamped by Gilles-Ambroise Dubut formerly in the Jacques Doucet collection (n° 331 of his sale) A company created under the Empire by the widow Desarnaud, which won a gold medal at the Exhibition of industrial products in the Louvre in 1819, the Escalier de Cristal establishment, located in the Palais Royal, had its moment of glory under the Restoration thanks to the manufacture of luxurious objects combining crystal and gilt bronze.
