Paris 1924. Charles Paddock, Harold Abrahams, 200m © Collections L'Équipe July 8, 1924. There was revenge in the air at the Colombes stadium during this 200m heat. In the foreground, Charles Paddock, a lump of muscle raised in California, is battling with Harold Abrahams, a long, Cambridge-trained figure. The day before, the Briton had beaten the American sprinting armada, led by Paddock, Olympic champion in 1920, in the 100m. He was beaten again that day, but the United States took their revenge with Jackson Scholz in the final. In 1981, the film "Chariots of Fire", directed by Hugh Hudson, brought to life the Olympic epic of these first sprint stars. It won the gold medal in its category: the Oscar for best film. Single later print. Edition 1/1. Black and white piezographic print on Awagami Bizan White Medium Handmade 200g paper. Flamant art frame. Floating box made to measure. 42 X 59,5 cm
