Nasa. View of the first American extra-vehicular space suit that allowed veteran astronaut Ed WHITE to perform the historic first manned spacewalk during the Gemini-4 mission in June 1965. An additional layer was added to the basic suit to prevent micrometeorite penetration and protect against the cold of space. Two protective visors were also added to the helmet. The suit is fully pressurized and covered with synthetic nylon. The glove and helmet can be removed during the flight. Vintage silver print. Typed caption on the back. 25,6 x 20,4cm with margins.
