(Russia / Decorative Arts / Princess Tenicheff). Nicholas Roerich / Serge Makowsky. "Talachkino. The decorative art of Princess Tenicheff's workshops". Saint Petersburg, 1905. In-8 paperback. 76 pages. 154 black and white and colour illustrations (including one colour illustration pasted on strong paper). Russian text. A few spots of foxing on the first cover. Otherwise a good copy. Rare original Russian edition. Princess Maria Tenicheva, known as Marie Ténicheff (1858-1928), artist, collector and patron of the arts, created enamel workshops in her native country and sought to promote Russian crafts and folk art, before fleeing the revolution in 1905 and settling in Paris. An enamelled silver saltcellar and bread dish of his own making, replicas of pieces made for Tsar Nicholas II, were given to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in his memory.
