Princess Maria Tenicheva, known as Marie Ténicheff (1858-1928), artist, collector and patron of the arts, created enamel workshops in her native country and sought to promote Russian crafts and folk art, before fleeing the revolution in 1905 and settling in Paris. An enamelled silver saltcellar and bread dish of his own making, replicas of pieces made for Tsar Nicholas II, were given to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in his memory.
