Jean-Baptiste OUDRY (Paris, 1886 - Beauvais, 1755). "The poet falling from his horse breaks the belt of his breeches". Black stone, highlights of white signed and dated 1727 lower right. Height : 32,5 cm 32.5 cm - Width : 27.5 cm Drawing intended for the illustration of Scarron's "Roman comique". It is number 16 of the list of 38 subjects published by Oudry in the Mercure de France in 1727. It illustrates chapter 20 of book I of the novel. The drawing has not been engraved.
