Imilac Palassite H. 2 31/32 in - L. 3 3/4 in - P. 1/8 in Imilac is a superb pallasite discovered in the Atacama Desert in the 19th century in Chile. Imilac pallasite is, with Esquel pallasite (Argentina) and Seymchan pallasite (from Russia), the most prized of pallasites. It contains, indeed, translucent peridots (olivine) of very high quality, honey to green color, these peridots are thus extraterrestrial. The thin slicing of imilac pallasite reveals all its inner beauty with translucent peridots that were formed in Space more than 4.5 billion years ago. The peridots are naturally "set" in a matrix of ferronickel metal.
