Music for the film Cyclo by Tran Anh Hung (1995); this music won the 1995 Georges Delerue Prize.
The orchestra includes flute (and piccolo), oboe, 2 clarinets (and bass clarinet), bassoon (and contrabassoon), horn, 2 trumpets, tenor trombone, bass trombone, harp, 5 percussionists, and strings.
The score is divided into 4 parts numbered from I to IV, themselves divided into timed sections with the reference of the sequences concerned: I (p. 1-30) from A (Generic) to G (duration 7'50'' ca); II (p. II (pp. 31-48) from A to C ("(sequence 38) He plunges his head into the aquarium...") (duration 7'05'' ca); III (pp. 49-75) from A to F (duration 11'30'' ca); IV (pp. 76-84) Epilogue (duration 2'20'' ca).
The manuscript is carefully noted in Indian ink on 20-line paper bifeuillets; corrections by tipex; pages 6, 40 and 78 are pasted on a primitive version.
The autograph parts for flute (8 p.), and percussion (11, 6 and 13 p.) are enclosed; plus material by a copyist on tracing paper; and the corrected print of the parts.
