Louis SAGUER (1907-1991). Autograph musical manuscript signed, Musique d'après-midi, 1959; 90 sheets 38 x 26.5 cm (cuts and corners cut for clichage, traces of tape).
Orchestral suite dedicated to Lily Pastré, composed in 1943, and premiered in Lausanne on March 30, 1947 by the Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne conducted by Robert Desarzens; it was revised in 1959.
Duration 25 minutes. The orchestra consists of 2 flutes (and piccolo), oboe, English horn, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 trumpets, 2 horns, violins I & II, viola, cello, double bass.
Four movements: I commençant Lent, très libre (58 bars) ; II Très large (398 bars) ; III Allant (62 bars) ; IV Animé (194 bars).
The manuscript is written in Indian ink on tracing paper with 24 lines. It is dated at the end in the margin: "First version - Vernoux, autumn 1943; revision - Buoux, summer 1959".
