Manuel ROSENTHAL (1904-2003). Autograph musical manuscript signed, [Six Chansons d'outre-mer, 1943]; 99 pages on 27 bifeuillets approximately 35 x 27 cm.
Cycle of six melodies with orchestra, on poems by Nino (pseudonym of Michel Veber, 1896-1965) inspired by West Indian folklore.
I La Colporteuse (28 p.) : " He Hepp' voilà la colporteuse qui passe "..., Allegro ; II Saint-Barthélemy (23 p.) : " Notre pauvre véhicule qu'on appelle un' victoria "..., Poco lento flessibile ; III À la Madaniga (17 p.) : " A la Guadeloupe, à la Désirade "..., Allegro ; IV Ah ! si ma chèvre... (6 p., (6 p., SACEM stamps 8 June 1943), Tempo di rumba un poco piu moderato, signed and dated " Paris le 16 janvier 1936 orchestrated in Avanne le 2 mai 1941 " ; V Le Porteur de tipoye (12 p. à l'italienne, SACEM stamps 8 June 1943) : " J'ai tant de chiques dans mon talon "..., Tempo di marcia non allegro ; VI À la Guadeloupe (13 p.): "A l'Ile Mâtinique"..., Allegro.
This orchestral score, notated in blue ink (except IV and V in black ink), on 24-32 line paper, served as a conductor and bears annotations in blue or red pencil by Rosenthal, as well as tabs for repeats. A title is noted in pencil at the top of the first: "Colonial Songs".
