[Celestial Spaces] Hector Servadac by Jules Verne. Illustrations by P. Philippoteaux. Paris, Bibliothèque d'Éducation et de Récréation, J. Hetzel et Cie, sd (ca 1877). Large double in-8°. Publisher's full havana percaline "à la grenade". Plate signed A. Souze and binding by Lenègre. Blue endpapers. Printed by Gauthier-Villars. First illustrated edition and first concomitant hardback with the versions "aux deux éléphants", "au monde solaire" and "au miroir". Covers very skilfully restored. Otherwise, a splendid copy with bright golds on the first board as on the spine. Extremely rare in this colour! With blue, havana is probably the rarest colour for "à la grenade" cartonnages. This is, let's admit it, the first copy we have seen in this colour!
