European Education. Paris, Calmann-Lévy, 1945. In-12, paperback, uncut. First edition.
One of 200 copies on Outhenin-Chalandre paper, the only large paper.
Roman Kacew's first novel published under the pen name of Romain Gary, European Education was first published in English translation in London in 1944 under the title Forest of Anger.
In 1956, the year when the Goncourt prize was awarded to Les Racines du ciel, Gallimard reissued his novel on the Polish resistance in a version entirely reworked by the author, in a clearly Gaullist sense absent from the original edition.
A very fine paperback copy.
