PROVENANCE Paris Collection
This pair of mounted Chinese porcelain vases has a dark green crackled glaze. Hu-shaped with elephant-head handles, they are comparable to several pieces in the National Museum in Beijing (Monochrome Porcelain - The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Beijing, Hong Kong, 1999, p. 251, plate 229). Another vase, without a rocaille mount, was in the E.T. Hall collection (fig. 1). Hall collection (fig. 1).
