PAIR OF VASES WITH "ELEPHANT" HANDLES IN CHINA GREEN PORCELAIN Porcelain : China, Qing dynasty, Yongzheng (1723-1735) or early Qianlong (1736-1795) period Mounting : France, Louis XV period, circa 1745 Green crackled porcelain; chased and gilded bronzes H. 20 cm, D. 14 cm PROVENANCE Paris Collection This pair of mounted Chinese porcelain vases has a dark green crackled glaze. Hu-shaped with elephant-head handles, they are comparable to several pieces in the National Museum in Beijing (Monochrome Porcelain - The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Beijing, Hong Kong, 1999, p. 251, plate 229). Another vase, without a rocaille mount, was in the E.T. Hall collection (fig. 1). Hall collection (fig. 1).
