Authentic Traction convertible Same owner since 1976 Interesting restoration project French title Sold without technical inspection Chassis n° 98 183 First presented in March 1934 as a sedan in front of the most important Citroën dealerships, the “7” quickly saw its range expand with two other versions, named by Citroën Faux-Cabriolet and Roadster. The Traction Avant is the work of the Italian sculptor Flaminio Bertoni and was a worldwide success. The cabriolet responds to the comfort of this type of bodywork rather than the spartan character of a real roadster. It can accommodate two additional people at the back. It is an extremely attractive car because it combines all the driving qualities of the Traction with a very pure line and a higher level of comfort than the sedan. The appeal of the Traction convertible has resulted in the production of replicas, making authentic versions rare and sought after, like the one we are interested in today. According to Olivier de Serres’ census, we know of about 450 surviving Traction Avant cabriolets of all models. The Traction Cabriolet presented in these pages is a very interesting restoration project. The current owner has owned the car since June 1976 and has been a great collector of cabriolets all his life. He undertook the restoration of this Traction 7C, which was first put on the road in 1937. The restoration was aborted several years ago and, unfortunately, some parts are missing.  However, the original engine and gearbox are still present even if they are not visible on the pictures that illustrate these pages. According to Citroën archives, body numbers correspond to those of a Traction Cabriolet. Today incomplete but in healthy bodywork condition and without traces of impacts whatsoever, it will be necessary to find some parts to finish this beautiful project of authentic «Cab Trac».
