Signed (mei): Bishû Okayama (no) jû Chikukansai Yoshitaka. Seal in relief : Chinkoku ["Protect the country] and Kirimono dôsaku Meiji san nen nigatsu hi [Engraving of the blade made by the same. A day in the 2nd month of Meiji 3 (1870)]
Blade (sugata): hira zukuri, mitsu mune, horimono in the shape of a dragon on one side, on the other an inscription: hyôshin ippen no shimo ["The heart pure as a block of ice, immaculate as white jelly"]
Forge pattern (hada): masame
Temper (hamon): ko-midare
Tip (boshi): ko-maru
Rocket (nakago): ubu keitai, haagari nakagojiri, un mekugi ana, sujikai yasurime

Kashira kojiri kogai kozuka koiguchi: en suite, in shibuichi with katakiri and ke bori decoration, inlaid with shakudo and gilt copper of chrysanthemums
Kogatana and kogai: Kozuka signed and dated Meiji sannen [third year of Meiji (1870)] Shoami Katsuyoshi (1832-1908), the kogai signed Kaiguzoroi Shoami
Scabbard (saya): black lacquer decorated in hira maki-e gold lacquer with geese among reeds
