In 1917 grape grower Pedro Pavone Voglino settled in the small town of Isla de Maipo after emigrating to Chile from the wine region of Piedmont, Italy. In 1956, together with his eldest son, Felix Pavone Arbea, he founded Santa Ema and began to produce and market high-quality wines that would gain prestige and recognition over the years. In 2003 the family opened a modern winemaking plant, Bodega El Peral, in the heart of Isla de Maipo, which has the best technology available for the production of quality wines. In 2015 Felix Pavone Moreno, representative of the third generation of the family, proudly continues at the helm of Viña Santa Ema.
