NASA. Superb historical close-up view of astronaut Ed White's performing the first spacewalk by an American. Astronaut Ed White floats in the microgravity of space outside the Gemini IV spacecraft. Behind him is the bright blue Earth with its white cloud cover. White is wearing a specially designed spacesuit. The helmet's visor is gold-plated to protect him from the sun's unfiltered rays. In his left hand is a hand-held homing unit with which he controls his movements in space. June 3, 1965. Period chromogenic print on paper: "A KODAK PAPER".
