This crossing of Africa from North to South was suggested to André Citroën by the French President of the time, Gaston Doumergue, who wished to link the African colonies with the most distant of them, Madagascar, on a regular basis. The aim of this second Citroën expedition was initially political, but as for his trans-Saharan expedition, Citroën also wanted it to be scientific and the industrialist surrounded himself with geologists, cartographers, anthropologists, etc. Nice copy.
